Cylinder Head Porting

Cylinder head porting, is really the wrong description of what we do. This is because porting normally refers to the removal of metal. People are under the assumption that the removal of metal, "opens up" the port and therefore increases flow, which increases power. This may be true, but only for engines that are supercharged or turbo charged. And even this isn't always true. To make power in your normally aspirated engine, you need the air moving through the engine, to have VELOCITY. Especially in the intake tract.

Volumetric efficiency = Flow x Velocity of the air.

Volumetric efficiency = The amount of air that becomes captured in your cylinder for combustion.

Volumetric efficiency is directly related to TORQUE. Torque is what you care about. Horsepower comes from torque.

What we do to "reshape" the intake tract, involves the adding of material and then redesigning it to increase the velocity of air into the engine by about 30%.

No one else offers this to the public. It is left for the top teams from top engine builders, but not necessarily in motorcycles. The same cylinder head design that we used to set the land speed record on the CRF 450R with 63 HP, and make over 40 HP on the 08 YZ250 F being built for Malcolm Smith, we offer to you, on all modern four strokes.

After the intake tract, we fix the combustion chamber. The incoming air still needs to get past the intake valves and distribute in the cylinder in the right areas. If not, they spill out into the exhaust pipe during valve overlap. Then, with a properly designed combustion chamber, the fuel and air, burns more complete, ensuring the highest power.

And last, but not least, is some reshaping on the exhaust. Although, the final shape may not look optimal, it is. You need to have a shape that not only evacuates the exhaust quickly, but also keeps "dirty" exhaust from returning into the combustion chamber where it can retard the power made on the next combustion cycle.

If all this sounds overwhelming, don't worry about it. It's not your job. Your job is to remove your cylinder head and send it in so you can have more instant power from bottom to top than you ever thought.

The price for the head redesigning work, is only $349.95, and usually takes about 3-4 days to complete. Any and all valve problems can be fixed as well. More on that on the valve page.
